Jaemus
Josh Jackson came up as a popper on the dance floors of the Indianapolis and Chicago underground in the late 1990s. His inspiration still comes from that world: the warehouse DJs, poppers, lockers and breakers of the Midwest and beyond. He started producing golden-era hip-hop instrumentals in 2002 and spent more than eighteen years mixing hip-hop, downtempo and drum and bass before house called him.
In the summer of 2022 he spent time in Seattle and made his house debut at Monkey Loft, Timbre Room and Club Mercury. All of it has happened alongside a 25-year military career and a family. Today he works on house and deep house from his home in San Diego. His sound is vibrant, funky and soulful, with roots in underground hip-hop and drum and bass. As Jaemus he has released on Quantize, Kolour, Moulton Music, Robsoul, Late Night Jackin, Uniting Souls, Deep Tech and others, with tracks such as Thoughts From Tha Block, Up From The Gutta and Soul Box with Oscar P.
On Red Melon, Jaemus co-wrote and co-produced Keep On with Dano, released in 2025. It comes in two West Coast floor mixes. Dano's Keeping that Feeling mix brings Rhodes-style warmth and soaring vocal hooks around a pitched "Keep that same old feeling" loop. The J Stays Jackin Edit leans harder into jackin' bounce and lets a live-feeling jazz trumpet ride.
