RM005 Dano & Joeski - Chikko

$7.50

Dano and Joeski built Chikko, released in 1999, around one irresistible hook: a female "keep on movin'" that gets chopped, delayed and flipped until it works as percussion. Chikko Vox stretches past eleven minutes on tough, swinging 909-style drums, tribal congas and a deep rubbery sub, with dubby minor stabs and resonant sweeps cycling underneath. The Keep on Movin' Acapella hands DJs the hook alone for layering. Dano's Melon Dub goes grittier and lo-fi, all squelchy syncopated bass and tape-delay tails. It's late-90s West Coast house at its most physical, made by two producers who knew exactly what floors wanted.
