RM007 Dano - The Defining Life EP
Dano's The Defining Life EP landed in 2000 and captures the turn-of-the-millennium Red Melon sound in three long, functional tracks. Downpressorman chops its own title into syllables and uses them as percussion over rolling congas, dub-house stabs and tape delay, a tool with a mantra. Poolside Hypnosis opens on a lone, bubbling filtered arpeggio before rimshots, shuffled hats and aquatic pads drift in, almost wordless and fully immersive. Ghetto Tech stretches past nine minutes of shuffling 4/4, detuned bleeps and distorted stabs. First pressed on vinyl, it's West Coast tech-house built for the long mix.
