Tuhin Roy is a house and deep-house producer whose Red Melon records belong to the label's early-2000s run, when its sound had settled into funky, dubbed-out West Coast tech house. His records speak with a clear taste for the funk: round, bouncing bass lines, soulful vocal hooks and just enough acid in the leads to keep a floor leaning forward.
His solo EP You Gotta Love works one chopped soulful hook two ways, in the warm Feel Mix and the heavier Thump Mix, while Bobo Needs the Funk drops the vocal altogether for a bouncy funk bass and an acid-tinged swirl in the breakdown.
After that he partnered with Dano on Disco Diversions, deep and tech house with funk in the bass and disco warmth in the air. FreeFormFunk rides a rubbery, bouncing bass and a slightly acidic lead, and Feelin' Alive softens the mood with looped soulful female phrases and a dusty analog character, a natural fit for a label that likes its house deep, warm and funky.
